Retainers play a big role in keeping your teeth straight after orthodontic treatment. Without one, teeth can slowly move out of position over time. If your retainer is missing, damaged or uncomfortable, replacing it sooner rather than later helps protect your smile.

- New Patient / External Patient:
I am ordering a replacement retainer based on a new impression/scan or an existing model. I understand that Newcastle Orthodontics is fabricating this retainer based strictly on the current shape of my teeth and is not responsible for any underlying orthodontic or dental issues. - Existing Patient:
I am a current patient. My teeth have not shifted, my existing retainer still fits reasonably well (or has only recently been lost/broken), and I have not had any major dental work (such as crowns, bridges, or large fillings) since my last scan/impression.

How Long Do Retainers Last?
Retainers are not designed to last forever. With regular wear, they can become worn or less effective over time. Many people replace their retainer every few years, depending on how well it is cared for.
If your retainer feels loose, uncomfortable or no longer fits properly, it is a good idea to replace it.
Why Does Replacing Your Retainer Matter?
Wearing a retainer that is damaged or not wearing one at all can allow teeth to shift. This can undo some of the hard work from your orthodontic treatment.
