Braces

LightForce™
LightForce™ braces are the world’s first and only fully customised 3D-printed orthodontic system. Unlike traditional one-size-fits-all brackets, LightForce™ braces are precisely tailored to each individual tooth, providing an exceptional level of accuracy and personalisation.
Because they are made specifically for your smile only, LightForce™ braces allow for more efficient tooth movement, potentially reducing overall treatment time and the number of adjustments needed. Their low-profile design also enhances comfort and makes them less noticeable than conventional braces. By pairing this with a simple smartphone app for remote check-ins, we track progress from home. This means fewer trips to our office and less time missed from school or work

Clear Aligners
Clear aligners are an increasingly popular solution to orthodontic problems. They are comfortable, easy to wear and not very obvious.
Clear aligners work by progressively straightening the teeth through weekly changes. They are held in place by attachments that have been bonded to your teeth. They need to be worn 22 hours per day to work effectively.
In our practice we offer Spark Aligners. Having had experience with other brands of aligners, we have found Spark to be the clearest, most comfortable, and most efficient aligner system on the market.
Early Intervention
It is important to get the timing of orthodontic treatment right. By seeing a specialist orthodontist, you can rest assured that your child will be receiving the right treatment at the right time.
What is the best age to bring my child to the Orthodontist?
The Australian Society of Orthodontists recommends that children seen an orthodontist between the ages of 8 and 10 years of age. However, occasionally they may need to be seen earlier depending on the problem.
Some examples of problems that may need early treatment include:
- Breathing difficulties during sleep where the upper jaw is narrow
- Severely protruding front teeth
- Underbites
- Impacted adult teeth
Our practice is happy to see children at any age regardless of whether their parent has a specific concern, or they would just like them to be evaluated for peace of mind. If there is no immediate need for intervention, your child will be placed on a regular recall to monitor jaw growth and development.
Treatments for adults
Did you know that teeth can be moved at any age and that you are never too old for orthodontic treatment?
In our practice we are seeing more and more adults wanting to improve their smile. Many of these adults do not want to wear braces and prefer a cosmetic treatment option. Fortunately, clear aligners (e.g. Invisalign or Spark) now offer solutions for most orthodontic problems with minimal impact on your life. At Newcastle Orthodontics our preferred clear aligner system is Spark. Whether you are wanting to get your teeth back into alignment or are looking for the smile you’ve always wanted, we are able to offer orthodontic treatments to meet your needs.
